Donation Policies

Thank You Letters

Thank you letters with IRS reporting information are only issued to donors who contribute money or in-kind goods or services directly to the Healdsburg Food Pantry and/or Healdsburg Shared Ministry.  For those who give more than five times cumulatively in one year, a "year-end donation statement" detailing those donations can be issued.

Thank you letters for in-kind goods and services will list only the specific goods or services donated, without market dollar value assigned.  This market value is for the donor to determine with their tax advisor.

People or organizations donating in-kind goods or services to a third party (to event or auction organizers) can receive an acknowledgement letter from the Healdsburg Food Pantry, but specific donated items will not be noted.

DONATE FOOD

The Healdsburg food Pantry relies on cash donations to enable it to purchase food from the Redwood Empire Food Bank for the bulk of its basic food provisions.  The REFB supplies food for distribution thru various agencies like the Healdsburg Food Pantry, to 70,000 people in Sonoma County.  Basics such as rice, beans, and pasta can be purchased there for 18 cents/pound.

The food industry--manufacturers, distributors, and retail establishments--augment the basics; specifically, Big John's, Safeway, and Starbucks, consistently give overstocked food directly several times a week to HFP.  Additionally, volunteer Gleaners work with local farmers and gardeners to gather surplus fresh fruit and vegetables.  If you are a member of the food industry, a farmer or gardener who may have excess food that you would like to donate, please call us at 707 433.3663 or use our contact form.

Make it Personal

There are many ways in which you, as an individual, can directly participate in improving the lives of those facing hunger.  The most direct way is by donating food.  Create a habit of buying extra cans when you go to the grocery store.  Keep a box by your front door where you deposit these extra cans, encourage your Church, work place, or Organization to contribute and when a box or bag is full, bring it to the pantry at 1505 Healdsburg Ave, Healdsburg, CA.  Someone will be there to accept your donation most mornings between 9-11 AM, Monday thru Friday (call 707 433 3663) or during food distribution on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 3-4:30 PM.
